Liverpool hold talks with Suarez’s agent

Liverpool have held emergency talks with Luis Suarez’s agent after rejecting a £30m bid for the Uruguay international from Arsenal, according to the Metro.

The club reportedly called the meeting with Pere Guardiola, the strikers trusted representative, to discuss what happens next following the 26 year olds claims that he wants a move away from Anfield.

The Reds have maintained that they are keen to keep hold of their star player, though they anticipate further bids, with Real Madrid and Chelsea both said to be interested.

Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has completed his move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Borussia Dortmund for a fee close to £24m.

The Armenian international had been a target of Liverpool for some time, though there was never any official contact made between either club or the player himself, Sky Sports understands.

Elsewhere, the Daily Star have reported that West Ham United are in discussions with Liverpool over a move for winger Stewart Downing.

The 28 year old, who has two years remaining on his contract with the Reds, was told by manager Brendan Rodgers last November that he was free to find a new club.

The England international made 45 appearances for the club last season, scoring five goals.
