Sturridge hoping for return at Stoke

Liverpool may welcome back Daniel Sturridge for Sunday afternoon’s trip to Stoke City.

The England international hasn’t played since the Meresyside derby at Goodison Park back in November, where his eighty-ninth minute equaliser salvaged a point for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Mamadou Sakho may also return though Jose Enrique, Daniel Agger, Joe Allen, Jon Flanagan and Sebastien Coates are all out.

Victory for the Reds will see them move to within three points of leaders Arsenal, who don’t play their match at Aston Villa until Monday evening.

Meanwhile, somewhat unsurprisingly, Luis Suarez has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for December.
The Uruguay international enjoyed a record-breaking month, with ten goals in seven club appearances.

He hit four in the 5-1 victory over Norwich City, before bagging successive braces in the wins over West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Cardiff City.

That impressive run moved Liverpool to the top of the table, though defeats in their following two games saw them drop to fifth before the win at Hull City on New Year’s Day elevated them back into the top four.

With twenty, Suarez is way out in front in the race for the Premier League golden boot.

His nearest rival is Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero who is currently out injured with thirteen so far to his name.
