Reds closing in on Papadopoulos

German football expert Rafael Honigstein has told TalkSport that he expects Schalke defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos to sign for Liverpool.

The Greek international was linked with a £20 million move to Zenit St Petersburg in January, though it is thought that the Reds could get their man for a lower fee, largely down to the 21 year old having missed the second half of the season through injury.

Carroll bid accepted

Liverpool have agreed a fee of £15 million with West Ham United for striker Andy Carroll, though the England international is yet to decide on where he wants to move to Upton Park on a permanent basis.

Carroll’s former club Newcastle United are also said to be interested, though they are yet to make a bid.

Liverpool included in match-fixing storm

It has been reported Liverpool’s 2009 Champion’s League clash with Debrecen was one of almost four hundred matches worldwide to have been targeted by a far eastern betting ring.

It is alleged that the Hungarian side’s goalkeeper Vukasin Poleksic was paid to ensure that there were more than two goals in the match, though the final score was 1-0 the Reds.
