Carroll move edging closer

Andy Carroll’s chances of completing a permanent move to West Ham United have increased, according to Hammers co-chairman David Gold.

Responding to a question from a supporter on Twitter, Gold said: “The chances of AC joining West Ham has risen from 50/50 to 75/25 in the last few hours. Will keep u posted”.

West Ham had a £15million bid for Carroll accepted by Liverpool last month, though there have been suggestions of discrepancy regarding the player’s wages.

Representatives of the 24 year old had reportedly asked for wages of £100,000 per week, demands that were dismissed out of hand by the London club.

That figure would have represented a £20,000 pay rise on for the striker, who’s wages were paid by West Ham whilst he was on loan their last season.

Elsewhere, Spanish under 19 international Suso has expressed his desire to remain at Anfield amid speculation that he could be moved on.

The midfielder made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Reds last season, though is yet to score for the club.
Meanwhile, Conor Coady has been named as England’s captain for the forthcoming under 20’s World Cup in Turkey.

The defender made his Premier League debut in the 3-1 win at Fulham in the penultimate game of last season.
