In the Papers: 5th September

The transfer window may have slammed shut several days ago, yet that doesn’t mean to say that there is an absence of headlines about the Reds. In fact, the newspapers seem full of Liverpool stories for Wednesday.

The first major headline comes from talkSPORT, with this outlet claiming that Brendan Rodgers is attempting to solve the club’s goal scoring problems with the acquisition of Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero. Del Piero, now 37-years-old, is currently without a club, although the Reds could have their work cut out over this deal with several reports in Australia hinting that Sydney are the favourites to sign the former Juventus man. It would be fair to say that most of the newspapers have been concentrating on Andy Carroll’s recent loan move to West Ham, while a few others have reported on the 2-1 victory over Hearts in the Europa League.
