Merseyside giants Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Inter Milan midfielder NicoloBarella. This is according to the report from Italian publication Calciomercato. Italian international Barella was a regular in the Inter Milan team that won the Italian Serie A title for the first time since the treble-winning season. He provided 13 assists on the way to the league title win under Antonio Conte. Inter Milan and Conte parted ways immediately after the end of last season thus leading to speculation over the future of the key players at the club. The Nerazzuri has since replaced Conte withSimone Inzaghi who was formerly at fellow Italian team Lazio.

Liverpool target Barella was named the best midfielder in the Italian Serie A at the end of last season for his contributions to the league title win achieved by Inter Milan and it’s not surprising that his quality has been noticed by Liverpool who are almost certain to bolster their midfield options after the free transfer exit of Dutch international GeorginioWijnaldum. Ex-Newcastle United star Wijnaldum has signed for French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) on a free transfer after his Liverpool contract ended this season. PSG saw off Spanish La Liga outfit Barcelona to secure the signing of the Dutchman who scored three goals for the Netherlands at Euro 2020 before their round of 16 exit at the hands of the Czech Republic.

Barella could replace Wijnaldum at Liverpool this summer and he has been a regular for Italy who are in the quarterfinals at Euro 2020.
