Collymore: Uruguay progress will benefit Reds

Stan Collymore believes that Uruguay’s qualification for next summer’s World Cup finals will benefit Liverpool in their pursuit of Champions League football for next season.

Speaking in his People column, the former Reds striker believes that Luis Suarez, who played in both legs of the South American side’s recent 5-0 aggregate victory over Jordan in the World Cup qualification play-offs, will be so keen to prove he can deliver on the big stage, it could help fire Brendan Rodger’s men into the top four.

Arsenal suffer narrow defeat to champions

Arsenal tasted defeat in the Premier League for the first time since the opening day of the season, losing 1-0 to champions Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Former Gunner Robin van Persie, as he did in last season’s corresponding fixture, gave United a first half lead, and that goal was enough to secure all three points for David Moyes’ men.
