Liverpool aiming to go third with win at Southampton

Liverpool will be looking to strengthen their position in the top four of the Premier League as they travel to Southampton tomorrow afternoon.

With Manchester City playing in the Capital One Cup final on Sunday afternoon, the Reds will move into third place if they take all three points, while they could also leapfrog second place Arsenal if they lose their match at Stoke City.

Mamadou Sakho has returned to training after missing the last two months with a hamstring injury, though Daniel Agger is expected to keep his place in the heart of defence.

Lucas Leiva and Jose Enrique are also heading towards recovery, though the game comes to soon for both of them.

The South Coast club became the first, and as yet only away side to win at Anfield this season when Dejan Lovren’s goal was enough to secure the victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s men back in September.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has added to speculation that Pepe Reina’s days as a Liverpool player are coming to an end after suggesting that the shot-stopper has already said his goodbyes at the club, the Express understands.

The Spain international, who is spending the season on loan with Napoli, is expected to move elsewhere in the summer.
