LIVERPOOL TAKE MERSEYSIDE DERBY SPOILS

Everton played hosts to Liverpool on the back of a wretched run of results that has seen them pick up one point from a possible 18 points before the Merseyside Derby encounter with the Reds who are one of the three major contenders for the league title in the English top flight this season. The other two title contenders are league leaders Chelsea and holders Manchester City.

In the latest instalment of the Merseyside Derby at the GoodisonPark, Liverpool were quicker out of the blocks and they were rewarded with two goals in the first twenty (20) minutes as the Toffees could not cope with the attacking prowess from Mohamed Salah and others.

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson scored the first goal of the game on nine minutes via a shot from his weaker left foot. Salah scored a breakaway goal on 19 minutes to take his tally to 12 goals in the league this term.

Everton were given a lifeline in the 38th minute after Demarai Gray was sent through by Richarlison to pull one back for the home team via the underside of Liverpool shot stopper Alisson Becker. The goal from Englishman Gray gave Everton a route back into the game, but they were unable to take it after conceding two more goals in the second half.

In-form Salah scored again in the second half to complete his brace and take his tally to 13 Premier League strikes and four more than any other player in the league. Diogo Jota then wrapped up the win with the fourth goal as Liverpool deliver a four-star performance to beat their rivals 4-1 away from home.
