Liverpool FC have two birthdays.
They do not celebrate it though due to their history. The club started far back in 1892, meaning the club is 125 years in 2017. However Liverpool are not celebrating their birthday due to their complicated split from Everton.
The club was originally called “Everton Football Club and Athletic Ground Company Limited” was incorporated at Companies House January 26 1892. Though the club was incorporated they did not become “Liverpool FC” until June 3, 1892 as there were two Everton football clubs at the Merseyside.
The president of Everton then John Houlding and the owner of Anfield had a row with a group of directors at Everton over the rent he was charging the club. There was just one Everton FC. The disgruntled directors resolved to move to a new stadium at Goodison with the vice president William Barclay resigning his role in protest in the absence of Houlding. Continue reading
James Milner has targeted a much better home form in order to start cleaning up the table. Signed from Manchester City on a free transfer, the England international has fast established himself as an important member of the squad.
Even after the arrival of Jurgen Klopp, his position in the team does not appear to have changed. He played the full 90 minutes in the recent 4-1 win over Manchester City at Etihad stadium. Klopp claimed that this victory helped recover the points dropped in the defeat against Crystal Palace at Anfield.
This season which ended not too long ago was not the best in the history of Liverpool as the club was eliminated in the early stages of their European competitions and most of the signings that were made in order to improve the team could not fulfill that originally intended target.
To make matters worse after analyzing the history of Liverpool FC, Brendan Rodgers is the first manager since the 1950’s who has not been able to lift a single trophy in his first 3 years in charge of the squad.
It hasn’t even been a substantially memorable season for the players of the squad with Mario Balotelli who continues to struggle while other key performers have sustained injuries but there is one player in specific who will be leaving Anfield after having spent over 15 years at the English club and it’s Steven Gerrard.
