Flanagan to continue at full-back

Liverpool head to Hull City on Sunday afternoon hoping to close the gap between them and leaders Arsenal.

The Gunners face Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon, and any slip up from the early season pace setters will give both Liverpool, and Chelsea in third place the chance to capitalise.

Jon Flanagan is set to continue at left back in the absence of Jose Enrique, while Daniel Sturridge could return to the starting line-up after coming on as a late substitute to grab the equaliser is last weekend’s Merseyside derby.

Meanwhile, the Reds are set to battle with Lyon and Roma as they bid to secure the services of Paris Saint Germain playmaker Javier Pastore, according to TalkSport.

The Argentina international has struggled to hold down a first team place with the Ligue 1 champions this term, and could be set for a move away when the transfer window reopens.

Elsewhere, Brendan Rodgers has suggested that Steven Gerrard could finish his career as a central defender, the Mail Online understands.

The Reds captain turns 34 at the end of the season, and Rodgers is sure that he can continue at the top level for another few seasons at least.
