Lloris: Beating Liverpool will be tough

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has told the Mirror that he believes Liverpool are playing the best football in the league, ahead of their Premier League clash next weekend.

Andre Villas Boas’ men can move a step closer to Champions League qualification with victory at Anfield, but France’s number one has said that that won’t be easy.

Meanwhile, Liverpool could raid Spurs forthcoming opponents in the Europa League should they lose Luis Suarez in the summer.

Reports in the Metro state that the Reds would consider a move for Inter Milan’s Antonio Cassano if they lose their prize asset.

The Italy striker has made scored five goals in eleven league appearances for Andrea Stramaccioni’s side this season.

Meanwhile, Stoke City are reportedly lining up a £7 million bid for midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.

The 21 year old, who signed from Charlton Athletic in 2010, has made just one league appearance in 2013 after falling down the pecking order following new arrivals in the last transfer window.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis sent scouts to watch the England international in a reserve match last week, and reports in the People suggest that he would be a perfect replacement for former Reds midfielder Charlie Adam, who looks set to be offloaded in the summer.
