Two points dropped for the Reds

Liverpool are now seven points behind the Champions League places after squandering a two goal lead at the Emirates to draw with Arsenal.

Luis Suarez gave the Reds the lead after just five minutes following some shambolic defensive play by the hosts.

Jordan Henderson doubled Liverpool’s advantage on the hour mark, as Brendon Rodgers side looked set to bounce back from Sunday’s FA Cup disappointment in style.

However, Arsenal responded with two quick fire goals, firstly from Frenchman Olivier Giroud who was a constant threat, then from top scorer Theo Walcott.

Both sides had chances to win the match, but the spoils were share as both sides lost ground in the chase for a top four spot.

Meanwhile, Philippe Coutinho yesterday completed his transfer from Inter Milan for a fee thought to be in the region of £8.5 million.

However, the Brazilian, who will wear the number 10 shirt vacated by Joe Cole is unlikely to make his debut in Sunday’s game at Manchester City as he has been recovering from injury.

Elsewhere, Brendon Rogers has admitted that a deal for Blackpool’s Tom Ince looks doubtful, with the midfielder looking more likely to complete a move to Reading by tonight’s 11 o’clock deadline.
