Wisdom completes Derby switch

Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom has completed his loan move to Championship side Derby County, Sky Sports understands.

The England U21 captain has joined up with Steve McClaren’s men until the end of the season, and is line to make his debut against Birmingham City on Saturday.

Elsewhere, former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed in his autobiography that he was keen on signing Steven Gerrard during his time at Old Trafford.

The Liverpool captain was also linked with a move to Chelsea back in 2004 though the Reds rejected all advances.

Ferguson also admitted that he attempted to sign Fernando Torres before he moved to Anfield.

Torres spent three and a half years on Merseyside before moving to Chelsea in January 2011.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will battle with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal for the signature of Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Belgium international signed a new four year deal with Paul Lambert’s side in the summer having previously handed in a transfer request.

In his forty-eight appearances for the midlands club so far, he has scored twenty-eight goals and finished behind only Robin Van Persie, Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale is the race for last season’s Golden Boot.
