Adam Lallana claims his Club will do well

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana claims that there is a lot of belief at the club and he expects the Merseyside outfit to do well in the 2016-17 season.

Even though the Reds started the new campaign with a difficult away trip against Arsenal, it was seen as a great time to come up against the North London outfit since they were suffering from a large number of injuries especially in defence. Liverpool were able to unleash the entire attack and it is highly unsurprising that Arsenal struggled.

Jurgen Klopp already has an impressive strikeforce in his hands with the likes of Philippe Coutinho strengthened by the arrival of Sadio Mane.Even though the club were only able to achieve a 4-3 victory, Adam Lallana claims that it has given the team a lot of belief. This opening stage belief has the potential to help the club do well over the course of the entire campaign or at least up until Christmas. There will also be belief within Lallana, who has taken no time to get off the mark of the season. Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane were the most impressive players for Liverpool on Sunday.

JURGEN KLOPP OFFERED NEW DEAL AT LIVERPOOL

Head coach of Liverpool Jurgen Klopp has been offered a new deal by the club, according to reports.

The manager joined the club in the last campaign. The club decided to extend the deal they made with the tactician only nine months ago. Klopp, who is 49-years of age, earlier agreed to a deal to remain at the club till 2018 with the option of another year but the club wants to ward off any potential issues in future, especially based on this pedigree.

The German coach took The Reds to two finals in his last season, and could have finished much higher in the English Premier League if he had not sacrificed it for the sake of winning a title. Liverpool lost both finals, first to Manchester United in the League Cup, then to Sevilla in the Europa. There are reports that the fresh deal might not necessarily involve negotiating new financial terms but the club wants him to commit, especially based on his status and achievements. Klopp led his former club Borussia Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles and took them to a UCL final.

Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius is closing in on a transfer to Liverpool

Loris Karius is a 22 year old shot-stopper who went through a very impressive season with the German club Mainz after being able to keep 9 clean sheets as well as saving 2 penalty kicks.

These achievements have attracted the attention of the Premier League club Liverpool and it’s rumored that the English outfit is on the verge of securing the services of the German goal-keeper.

If everything goes as planned and Loris Karius is indeed by Liverpool during the summer transfer window then the German player will bring a new level of competition to the goalkeeping department of the Premier League club as Simon Mignolet will have to be at his best if he wants to keep the starting role position in Anfield.

Simon Mignolet did not have the best of seasons but with the potential arrival of Loris Karius, this will force the Belgian player to be at his best or his position in the club will be taken over by Karius. Continue reading

John Flanagan has no Importance at Liverpool

John Flanagan has become the forgotten men at Liverpool after spending almost 2 years on the sidelines due to a long-term injury.

The defender did not play for 19 months due to a knee injury. He recently made his competitive return in the 3-0 win over Exeter City in January. Since then, he has featured in six matches across all competitions. However, his absence from the Europa League has been surprising given that Liverpool have just progressed to the last 16 round of the competition. Manager Jurgen Klopp says that he is left impressed by the 23-year-old, but says that Liverpool have to be cautious with the player.

He has been given enough time to recover from the games by deliberately being omitted from the Europa League competitions. The German will be aware that Liverpool fans will be able to see the best of the 23-year-old only from next season. The next few months will just be utilised as a settling in period for the defender. Before his major injury, Flanagan was keeping out experienced defender Glen Johnson from the right back spot. Many doubted about his ability to return to the Liverpool first-team especially after the managerial change, but Klopp is providing him with plenty of opportunities to prove himself. Liverpool’s inconsistent form continued after they could only manage a 0-0 draw

Liverpool’s inconsistent form continued after they could only manage a 0-0 draw in the Europa league match against Augsburg.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was expected to get the best out of his team against a German outfit, who he knows very well from his time at Borussia Dortmund. This much also witnessedKlopp returning to Germany for the first time as a manager is leaving Dortmund. The return, though, was not a happy one since Augsburg appeared to be handed the advantage after Liverpool failed to score an away goal or even get a positive result.

An away goal would have been crucial with the return leg at Anfield in a few days. The impetus has now shifted to Augsburg, who will hope to score away from home. Such a possibility will leave Liverpool searching for two goals in response. The club are in a precarious position as far as European football is concerned, but this has largely been the status since the arrival of Klopp a few months ago. The German has been unable to make a major impact on results, as Liverpool continues to struggle in the league. The weekend’s 6-0 thrashing of relegation threatened Aston Villa was bound to give some much-needed confidence to the team, but they were not able to imply that in the Europa League game. Ronald Koeman is in no mood to sell Shane Long as he has confirmed

Ronald Koeman is in no mood to sell Shane Long as he has confirmed that the Ireland international would spend the rest of the season at St. Mary’s Stadium only.

Long has been in the sight of Liverpool right from the time the transfer window opened in January and they were even planning to bid for him, but, for some reason, they have not done it so far.

However, there is no doubt that there is a vacancy of a striker over there at Liverpool with Daniel Sturridge showing continuous fragility in terms of his fitness.

Whether Long or someone else, but, one thing is certain that the Reds are in a situation where they have to make a signing to give some power to the front line, otherwise, they will be in trouble.

As far as Long is concerned, the danger with him, if Liverpool indeed manages to seal his services, is that he is a sort of unpredictable Footballer and it’s very hard to expect consistency from him.

So, if he suits Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, it can’t be said with conviction.

However, for the time being, Koeman has seemed to have closed the topic completely as he has declared that there will be no more business done from Southampton’s side in the remaining couple of weeks in the transfer window.

When asked about Long and whether he would go, Koeman’s answer was a firm ‘no’. Continue reading

John Barnes believes that the club are still a far away from being recognised

Liverpool legend John Barnes believes that the club are still a far away from being recognised as title contenders even though they have done well under the regime of Jurgen Klopp.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager came to the club as the replacement for Brendan Rodgers. His ideas are seen as a step above the Northern Ireland manager, who achieved Champions League qualification only once in his three years at the club. Immediately upon his arrival,Klopp has transformed the way the club have been playing for quite a while. Liverpool have become much more offensive while being urgent in the defensive areas like pressing.

This high-intensity style of football has already contributed to some impressive victories over the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. The club remain only a couple of points below the top four and talk has begun about potential title challenge if Liverpool maintain this form till the end of the campaign. This is due to the limited difference between the teams occupying top four and the top of the table. Leicester currently lead the table but with only a couple of points advantage over Manchester United. Barnes admitted that he is a fan ofKlopp, while also stating that he is sad to have seen the end of Rodgers at the club. Continue reading

Liverpool managed to get their first league win under Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool managed to get their first league win under Jurgen Klopp after a 3-1 result against Chelsea. This victory comes just days afterKlopp managed to get his first victory in the League Cup against Bournemouth. Prior to this victory, the German had achieved three consecutive draws and several doubts about his ability to manage the Premier League outfit had just started rising. Following these two impressive wins, though, Liverpool have already been asked about a potential title challenge.Klopp has dismissed those concerns right away by saying that he wants to take every game as it comes.

The latest win against Chelsea was mightily impressive considering that the blues were playing at home, where they are usually very strong. Furthermore, Chelsea opened the scoring within the opening 10 minutes through midfielder Ramires. For much of the first half, Liverpool struggled to create any meaningful opening in the game since they were without striker Christian Benteke, who was not deemed 100% fit to start. The striker came from the bench to score the third and final goal. This victory means that Liverpool are unbeaten in the last five games and they are now up to seventh in the table.Klopp will now look to build on this victory rather than aiming for the title straightaway. Brendan Rodgers will have his future decided in the next few days

This Premier League season which reached it’s end a few weeks ago was a disastrous one for Liverpool but especially for Brendan Rodgers who will now have a meeting with the chairman Tom Werner.

Liverpool was knocked out of the FA Cup after losing against Aston Villa on April 19. Brendan Rodgers also failed on pushing his team to a European spot as Liverpool had to settle with the 6th spot of the Premier League which does not grant them with any possibility of competing in either the Champions League or the Europa League.

Just by taking a look at how Liverpool finished this season, it’s pretty evident that the Premier League club was just happy to have this campaign finalized.

The last match of the season of Liverpool was played at the Britannia Stadium as Brendan Rodgers and his men faced off with Stoke City and lost 6-1.

Brendan Rodgers has a managerial contract with Liverpool that extends until 2018 and this means that the coach hailing from Northern Ireland should have his job secured until then but in the world of football certain things end sooner than initially expected. Continue reading

Liverpool got another Chance to Rekindle their Hopes

Liverpool have been given a major chance to rekindle their hopes of a top four finish after seeing Manchester City lose yet another match in the Premier League.

After having been title contenders for the most of the campaign, poor form throughout 2015 has seen Manuel Pellegrini’s team drop to the position of fourth place with six games remaining. The positive aspect for Liverpool, whose Champions League hopes appeared to be destroyed after the 4-1 defeat against Arsenal, have been rekindled after City lost against Manchester United on Sunday. Liverpool have the opportunity to narrow the seven point deficit to the fourth spot when they take on Newcastle at Anfield on Monday night. Continue reading
