Jurgen Klopp was extremely pleased with the big victory over Chelsea that helped put Liverpool closer towards the league title for the first time since the start of the Premier League. The Reds came close to winning the title a few years ago but they were beaten by Chelsea at Anfield as the end of the season approached. This was when Brendan Rodgers was the manager at Liverpool.Klopp has so far been unable to lift any major honour with Liverpool after coming up as a runner-up in the Champions League, Europa League, and the League Cup.
Liverpool were able to pick up a 2-0 victory over Chelsea this time around. After a goalless first half, Sadio Mane came up with the breakthrough and Mohamed Salah was able to score with a wonder-strike just a few minutes later.Klopp felt that Liverpool were the dominant force in the match and were completely deserving of their three points. Liverpool, though, had a few heart in the mouth moments when Eden Hazard struck the post and also had a brilliant opportunity at goal. However, Liverpool had the better of chances throughout the match and they are now inching closer towards the league title.
Senegalese attacker Sadio Mane has said that Liverpool have tried to forget about last season’s shortcomings in the Champions League but they remain motivated to go one better during the current campaign. The Reds surprised many as they reached the final of the elite competition last term but they could not cross the final hurdle against Real Madrid after a forgettable goalkeeping performance from Loris Karius.
Thereafter, there had been a huge sense of disappointment around the club but Mane has now highlighted that they have moved on from the unwanted situation. Speaking to Goal.com, he said: “We have tried to forget about thatand we are doing our best this season to try to go to the final again—and why not win it? Of course, last season, nobody expected it from us, and maybe this year they do. But that’s not pressure.
Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has backed Mohamed Salah to recover from Egypt’s group stage exit at the summer World Cup. The 25-year-old was being fancied to star for his nation at the tournament but it was not meant to happen with a shoulder injury hampering his gametime for the Pharaohs.
Salah was left out on the bench during the late 1-0 defeat to Uruguay in the opening game and although he scored from the penalty spot against Russia, they eventually suffered a 3-1 loss which ousted them from the tournament. Salah and co. still have another consolation game against Saudi Arabia before returning home and Mane has now wished the best for his teammate for the future.
